General Balloon Safety

In themselves balloons are not dangerous although care should be taken with children and balloons as they may represent a choking hazard. Broken balloons should be kept out of the reach of children as this may represent a choking hazard.

Never release foil balloons into the atmosphere. Foil balloons can conduct electricity if it comes into contact with a power line and can also affect radar. The foil balloon itself is not bio degradable and so will pollute the environment if released. Foil balloons should always be weighted.

A latex balloon should only be released individually and should be hand tied without ribbon or string. See the NABAS code of conduct relating to balloon releases for further information and guidelines. Always think safety.
